How to fold your Aikido Hakama
- Place the Aikido Hakama down with the back facing up.
- Put the centre creases together
- Being careful not to disrupt the centrefold, flip over the Aikido Hakama.
- This is the Aikido Hakama flipped over with the front facing up.
- Fold either side towards the centre.
What do you wear under a GI?
Under your Gi pants, you can wear shorts or spats (spats are used in No-Gi). If you are a woman, you can wear women’s rashguard, sports bra, under the Gi top and spats under the Gi pants. In case you are practicing mostly in a Gi, you can wear short sleeves rashguard.
How do I pack my GI?
- Put your folded pants over your open jacket.
- Fold the jacket sides over the pants, then fold back the sleeves.
- Roll up the jacket/pants from the bottom.
- Tie your belt around the gi sausage.
- Swing over your shoulder and travel the world!

The obi or sash is also simpler and easier to tie.
- Put on the yukata with undergarments worn below.
- First wrap the right side of the yukata around to your left hip. Then wrap the left side over the right.
- Holding the yukata closed, wrap the sash around yourself two to three times.
- Tie the sash into a bow.
