In Japan anyone who teaches anything is called sensei. When one teaches, one is a sensei. But one might not be a sensei if one is not teaching. It depends on what one teaches. If one teaches Aikido techniques, one is a teacher only on the tatami.
What age can you start Aikido?
The uniqueness of Aikido is in the fact that you can start practicing it at any age. However, you have to understand that the most impressive results you can achieve if you start at school or when a teenager. Trainings in Mumonkan Aikido Club are not permitted for children under 10 years old.

Why Aikido has a bad reputation?
Aikido gets a bad reputation amongst other martial arts because you don’t learn to “fight effectively” as fast as you would in something like BJJ. Those in my Dojo who are truly proficient at Aikido have been doing it for many years.

aikido is great but only if you spar out side of class especially if you spar with people who take different martial arts then you. all in all its EXCELLENT if you also take another martial art and you spar with people who take different martial arts then you. its like a martial artists martial art.
