How long should my karate belt be?
The length is really up to personal preferences, organization guidelines, and competition rules. I personally like my belt to go down to mid-thigh, or an inch or two shorter, but I‘ve seen people with belts that only come down about three inches from the knot, and people with belts that touch their knees.

- Find the middle of your obi by folding it in half.
- Wrap the belt around you, crossing over in the back, and bringing the ends around to your front.
- Overlap the ends (left over right) keeping the end with the tag on top.
- Without twisting the belt, tuck the top (tag end) under the belt and pull both ends tight.
